ABOUT GOHN CONTROLS

Untitled-1-01.png

Gohn Controls exists for two reasons:

We lower the barrier to entry for automation by reducing cost and complexity.

Through practical controls engineering, robotics, and modern tools, we help small and mid-sized manufacturers implement automation without needing large budgets

We believe the average level of machine safety in industry needs to improve.

Our goal is to raise that standard by applying properly engineered safety systems — not just for compliance, but to reduce real risk to operators without disrupting production.

WHAT WE ARE BUILDING

We are building a company focused on two outcomes:

Making Automation More Accessible

Reducing cost through smarter design and practical engineering

Leveraging modern tools, software, and AI to simplify implementation

Helping companies automate without overbuilding or overspending

Raising the Standard of Machine Safety

Implementing safety systems to modern SIL / PL standards

Supporting PSHSR and compliance-driven upgrades

Improving safety without compromising uptime or productivity

We are not trying to be the largest integrator.

We aim to be the most practical, accountable, and effective partner for companies that need systems to actually work.

OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES

We operate with a small set of practical principles that guide how work is scoped, designed, and executed:

Safety First

No matter the schedule or pressure, our responsibility is to ensure equipment operates safely and puts peoples health and wellbeing first

Quality lives in the details

From electrical drawings and wire labels to PLC code and HMI usability, details matter — and they compound over time.

We take ownership of our work

Every team member is accountable from concept through commissioning. We stand by what we design, build, and support.

We expect growth

We value people who want to improve their skills, take on responsibility, and become better engineers and teammates over time.

Integrity comes before convenience

We communicate honestly, keep our word, and address problems directly — even when it’s uncomfortable.

We take care of people

Long-term relationships matter. That includes our customers, our team, and the people behind the work. These principles exist to reduce surprises - for our customers and for us.

OUR VISION AND GOALS

Gohn Controls exists to raise the standard of how automation systems are designed, implemented, and supported. We believe better automation – done safely, thoughtfully, and responsibly – has a real impact on productivity, reliability, sustainability, and the people who depend on these systems every day.

Our goal is to grow a capable, motivated team that delivers high-quality automation solutions without compromising safety, accountability, or culture. As we grow, we aim to increase the average level of quality, safety, reliability, and sustainability in the systems we touch – whether through retrofits, new equipment, or long-term support.

Build Cool, Well-Engineered Systems

  • Automation should be safe, reliable, and thoughtfully designed. We exist to raise the standard

Quality lives in the details

  • We do work that makes sense – technically and financially – so the company, the team, and our customers all benefit

Build a Place People Want to Work

  • We believe people do their best work when they enjoy the people, the challenges, and the environment they’re in

WHY THIS VERSION WORKS

  • Removes duplication (especially in Lessons Learned)

  • Reads cleanly on desktop and mobile

  • Feels senior, calm, and confident-not salesy

  • Filters bad-fit projects without sounding aggressive

  • Matches how experienced controls engineers actually think and talk

If you want next, I can:

  • Create a short About preview for the homepage

  • Tighten this further for mobile-first layouts

  • Adjust tone slightly more formal or slightly more direct

Just tell me which direction you want.

LESSONS LEARNED

Experience-often the hard way-has shaped how we work.

  • Keep it simple

  • Poor documentation costs more than imperfect hardware

  • Undefined scope creates risk for everyone involved

  • Commissioning time is where good design proves its value

  • Safety systems must be usable, not just compliant

  • No amount of software or controls can compensate for poor process or mechanical design

  • Changes identified early are negligible compared to changes made late

These lessons influence how we design systems, how we quote work, and how we engage with customers.

HOW WE MAKE DECISIONS

We make engineering decisions based on risk, clarity, and long-term ownership-not trends or buzzwords. When evaluating solutions, we consider:

  • Retrofit versus replacement based on cost, downtime, and future support

  • Safety architecture based on achievable SIL / PL requirements and real operating conditions

  • Control system structure based on maintainability, not just initial functionality

  • Software and data solutions based on who will own and support them after handover

  • Software and data solutions based on who will own and support them after handover

If a proposed solution adds unnecessary complexity or long-term burden, we will challenge it and recommend alternatives. This approach helps prevent rework, delays, and systems that become difficult to support over time.

Closing Note

Gohn Controls works best with customers who value clear communication, defined scope, and technically grounded solutions. We are not a fit for every project—and that clarity leads to better outcomes for everyone involved.
